Short Bio
A rock star, a metal precursor, and a drums legend. What else can be said about Ian Paice? Well... a lot. He is perhaps one of the greatest rock drummers of the 70s (so it is a big deal), and somehow a Hard rock Avant-garde. A Fast, Intense, almost wild but always clean, drumming blended with a unique swing and groove is what best defines Ian Paice marvelous style. It is amazing how much speed and power are accompanied with such neat and precise technique.
Paice was born in Nottingham, England on 29 June 1948. He was part of the 70s drummers' generation that has hypnotized by Krupa and Rich talent (Who isn't?). He picked up his first drumsticks at the teenage years and started his rock career with Georgie & the Rave Ons band (later known as The Shindigs). In 1966 he found a little success with The Maze band. During his time there he met the vocalist Rod Evans. Later in 1968, both Paice and Evans became part of the brand new Deep Purple, and from then on it is all history.
